Rickey Hill Bio

Rickey Glenn Hill (Rick Hill) was born in Fort Worth Texas on August 15 1956. The son of a dedicated yet poor Baptist Preacher Rickey faced immediate obstacles in his young life. Poverty to a child is a way of life. The braces on his legs that brought taunting from other children and tested his character at 4 years of age was a different story. Rickey would face many challenges as a boy growing up yet his greatest challenge was learning to balance the dreams of his father for Rickey to be a preacher of God’s word while Rickey dreamed of being the “Best Hitter” of the baseball in the WORLD.

The seed of a dream yet to be realized by Rickey began as a four-year old with leg braces locked in place whose brother pitched fast balls with rocks while Rickey swung for the bleachers with sticks. The same sticks being used by his father to discipline a dreamer drove Rickey even harder to escape his past and become what God had truly intended for his life. Overcoming life’s more difficult hurdles became a day-to-day affair as Rickey matured. Caught between poverty and success talent and disease Rickey’s life was played out on God’s canvass with a master’s brush.

From sticks and rocks to being signed by the Montreal Expo’s at age eighteen to a career batting average of 298! Rickey moved mountains to make it to “The Game” only to find another mountain to climb.

Today Rick has dedicated his life to sharing his story to the glory of God and all who would be inspired to follow the dream that God places in their lives whatever the cost.
